Obituary

JAMES ALLEN LEISURE, age 65, of New Holland, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 9:22 a.m. at the Fayette County Memorial Hospital. James had surpassed all expectations during the past year in his battle enduring Leukemia (AML). He was born on November 24, 1949 in Bloomingburg to Harold Sr. and Ethel Adkins Leisure. He was a 1968 Washington High School graduate. He retired as a corrections officer at PCI after 23 years of service. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam era as a telecommunications specialist. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his children and grandchildren, cooking, gardening and family gatherings. He was known as a very compassionate and caring person to all that knew him. He was a beloved father and grandfather "Pappy". James spent most of his life in the Washington CH area and was a lifelong provider; blessed with an open heart and a giving soul. James was preceded in death by parents, siblings Terry, Cecil and Kenny Leisure, Linda Corson and Diana Leisure. Survivors include his children Scott and (wifeYvonne, their children, Taylor, Brandon and Zima) Leisure, Darlanna and husband Jeremy, their children Kaitlyn, Tabby, and Natalie Woods and Trenton) Williamson and Gregory (wife Lyndsay, their children Addyson and Avery) Leisure; siblings Harold (Ruth Ann) Leisure, Richard Leisure and Sandy, Sue (Steve) Yerian, David (Becky) Leisure as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. He is also survived by his beloved dog and companion, Pookie. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with David Leisure officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Fayette County Humane Society, 153 S.
