JAMES ROBERT PIERCE, age 86, of Washington CH, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 8:25 p.m. at his home.
He was born on August 28, 1928 in Hillsboro to William and Agatha McKee Pierce. He was a 1948 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Dupont of Circleville. He also had worked at Rubbermaid and was also co-owner of Pierce and Hurles Barber Shop both of Chillicothe.
James was a member of the South Side Church of Christ, the Commission on Aging where he enjoyed playing chair volleyball. He was an active man who enjoyed tinkering in his workshop and maintaining a well kept yard. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lola Harmon Pierce, his son, Jan Robert Pierce, brother and sister-in-law, Owen and Doris Jean Pierce and sister, Talitha Vance.
Survivors include his children Jacalyn (Ted) Pierce-Black of Gahanna and Jamie (Mike) Brooks of Washington CH; grandchildren Janita (Dave) Stoots, Drs. Jeremy (Shannon) Jackson, Adam Brooks, Seth Brooks and Elizabeth (Ethan) Boring; expecting two great-grandchildren, Carter and Jeremiah; brother-in-law Joe Vance; special friends and neighbors Linda and Alvin Johnson as well as his many friends at the Commission on Aging.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the South Side Church of Christ, with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
