Obituary

JAMES S. THOMAS, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 after a lengthy battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved bride of 60 years, Mary Lou (Koontz) Thomas; children, Pamela D. (Craig) Wilson and Bruce Thomas. Also surviving are his twin granddaughters, Megan (Zach) Hammond and their daughters, Lucy and Lilah and Samantha (Mitchell) Ferris and their children, Alice and Winston.

Jim was born on April 12, 1941 and was one of nine children born to the late John T. and Thelma Beatrice (VanPelt) Thomas. He was a member at the Madison Mills United Methodist Church. Together with his Ohio National Guard and Ohio Military Reserve Experience, he served his country for 30 years. He also managed Kay Jewelers in Washington CH for over 32 years.

Although Jim enjoyed raising Appaloosa horses; his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He would always get the biggest smile on his face when his kids, grandkids, or great grandkids walked through the door.

Family members want to thank Ohio's Hospice of Fayette County for their tremendous work in taking care of him, especially his primary nurse, Amber Frazier.

Memorial contributions can be made to Madison Mills United Methodist Church, 9100 Madison Rd. NE, Washington CH, OH 43160 or to Ohio's Hospice of Fayette County, at Ways to Give – Ohio's Hospice of Fayette County

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date for family and loved ones.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Summers Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.summersfuneralhome.com
