JAY LYNN GARRINGER, age 70, of Grove City, formerly of Washington CH, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023 at his home. His death was sudden and unexpected.

He was born on August 14, 1953 in Fayette County to the late James E. and Virginia A. (Bidwell) Garringer. He was a 1971 graduate of Washington High School and lived most of his life in the area. Jay owned and operated the Red Rose Cafe in Washington CH for many years. Jay was an all around avid sports fan and collector of sports memorabilia. Some of his favorite teams included the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds, and the Cleveland Browns.

In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Gerald Longanecker; and sister-in-law, Janet Garringer.

Survivors include his daughter, Shannon Leigh Garringer; grandchildren, Jalyn May and Westyn Harris; siblings, Jeffrey (Julie) Garringer of Clarksburg, Ohio, R. Michael Garringer of Deshler, Ohio, James P. Garringer of Springfield, Ohio, and Cynthia Longanecker of Crofton, Maryland; and his best friend, Preston Harper. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Forest Grove Cemetery, 8270 Cemetery Pike, Plain City, OH 43064.

In lieu of flowers, please tune in to the Cleveland Browns game on Sunday to cheer on his beloved team as there will be one less member of the "dawg pound" watching.
