February 3, 1959 – December 23, 2023
JEFFREY DEAN SWIFT , age 64, of Washington Court House, passed away at 1:48 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe after battling throat cancer and beating it three times in the past four years. "The battle was not lost; the war was simply over" (John Lennon). He was born on February 3, 1959 in Fayette County and was the son of Jerry and Patti Binegar Swift. On February 26, 1996 he married the former, Carol Ann Hatfield Swift, who survives.
Jeffrey attended school at Miami Trace and Laurel Oaks. He and his wife owned and operated Swifty Glass in Washington C.H. for many years. Jeffrey enjoyed listening to 70's music, fishing and woodworking. Jeffrey loved the Mississippi Gulf Coast where he lived for eleven years and enjoyed gambling and visiting the casinos there as well. Jeff was a family man, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. As many of you know he was in the "Trump Train".
In addition to his wife,Carol, Jeff is survived by his mother, Patti; his daughter, Amanda (Daniel) Warner of South Salem; his step-daughter, Jenny (Mark) Stone of Washington C.H.; his grandchildren, Jasmine King, Hayden Coe, Anna Barker, Aubrey Barker, Tanner King-Chaney (who was also his best friend) and Berkley Coe. Also surviving is his sisters, Cindy Reed of New Holland and DeAnna Swift of Milledgeville; his brother and sister in-laws, Joy Eversoll, Hester Hatfield, Howard Hatfield, Lester Hatfield and Jim Hatfield; his good friend, Uncle Dave Beatty along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father; his grandson, Liam Barker and his cousin, Danny Davey.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024 in the Summers Funeral Home with Mike Wolfe officiating with burial to follow in the New Holland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
