JERRY DEAN PHILLIPS, age 73, of Columbus, formerly of Washington CH, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 10:35 a.m. at The Villages Hospice House in Florida.

He was born on June 24, 1943 in Fayette County to John F. and Mary E. Rayburn Phillips. He was a 1962 graduate of Washington High School. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He had worked in the printing and real estate industries. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. Jerry was an all around sports fanatic. He enjoyed golfing, following The Ohio State Buckeyes, and being with his family and grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Richard Phillips, and John Phillips.

Survivors include his best friend and love of his life for 28 years, Julia Speakman; children, Michael D. Phillips, Ginny A. (Larry) Wright, and Cathy S. Phillips; grandchildren, Haley (Jacob) Griffith, Harley Phillips, Brandon and Madison Wright, and Adam and Trevor Phillips; great-grandchildren, Danielle, Dexter, Kyler, Kambryn, and Landyn; also dear to his heart, children, Amber (Doug) Saum, and Keith Speakman; grandchildren, Brandy (Michael) Harris, Nathan (Sarah) Saum, Zach (Carmen) Saum, and Chet Saum; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Willa, Cori, and Caleb; sister and brother-in-law, Mary (Harry) Massie; sister-in-law, Jill Phillips; and his loving canine companion, Griffie. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5-8:00 p.m.
