JIMMIE D. COWMAN, age 77, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 4:55 a.m. at the St. Catherine's Manor.
He was born on June 3, 1937 in New Petersburg, Ohio to Marcus and Gladys Mossbarger Cowman. He was a 1955 McClain High School graduate. He retired from Kenworth in Chillicothe and also worked at the Home Depot in Washington CH and Florida for the past several years. He proudly served his country in the US Army where he was a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne.
Jimmie was a member of the Grace Community Church and the American Legion Post #125. He enjoyed woodworking, landscaping, drinking coffee with all of his buddies at various restaurants and especially spending time with his family. After his retirement, he loved spending the winter months in Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Jackie Hellenthal.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Thompson Cowman, whom he married on September 4, 1958; his daughter Susan, and her husband Keith Eckles; son-in-law Kenny Hellenthal; grandchildren Mike (Rebecca) Hellenthal, Tony (Rebekah) Hellenthal and Kaleb, Conner and Cameron Eckles; great-grandchildren Zachary and Alexis Hellenthal; sister Mary Lou Hilgenberg as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Grace Community Church with Pastor Jay Lucas officiating. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the church on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Burial of the cremains will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
