Obituary

JOHN E. "JACK" LYONS, age 87, of Washington CH, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 7:55 a.m. at the Court House Manor Nursing Home. He was born on August 22, 1928 in Hillsboro, Ohio to Albert and Voleta Mallot Lyons. He was a 1946 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He and his wife, Pat, operated the Washington Paint and Glass Company since 1965. He proudly served his country in the US Army as an Army Corporal during the Korean Conflict. Jack was a long time member of the McNair Presbyterian Church, and had also attended the Grace Community Church. He was a member of the F&AM Lodge #107 where he was a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed fishing and boating at Rocky Fork during the weekends and he was passionate about his work and business. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Art, Charlie and Jimmy Lyons. Survivors include his wife, Patricia "Pat" Long Lyons, whom he married on June 26, 1949; his children Gary (Mary Beth) Lyons, Denise (Russ) Neds and Lisa Peacock; grandchildren Andrew (Tessie) Lyons, Michael (Amy) Lyons, Brandon (Sara) Peacock and Jason Neds; great-grandchildren Capote and Dylan; sister-in-law Margaret Lyons of Hillsboro, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special nephew Ted (Susan) Waddle and a host of friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grace Community Church with Pastor Jay Lucas and Chaplin Jeff Davis officiating. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. A Masonic service will be held at the Summers Funeral Home on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome. Memorial contributions are suggested to either Hospice of Fayette County or Grace Community Church.
