JOHN FRANKLIN NEWELL, age 70, of Washington CH, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at 1:55 a.m. at the Fayette County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. He was born on April 24, 1944 in Hatchee, Alabama to John and Sarah Hurst Newell. He worked as a master logger and worked as a truck driver and a diesel mechanic. He was a member of the Gregg St. Worship Center. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching westerns, big time wresting, motorcycles and riding horses. John was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters-in-law Brenda Adams and Deana Dillon Creed. Survivors include his wife, Julie Dillon Newell, whom he married on May 15, 1982; his children Jennifer Newell and Pamela Robinson; grandchildren Melinda, Rachel, Kristina, John, Edward and Derick; great-grandchildren Hunter, Hayden and Landon; the mother of his children Lois Newell; siblings Bill Newell and Arthur Newell; mother and father-in-law Don and Patricia Dillon; nephews Jason (Kristina) Adams and Brent Adams; niece Stacey Adams; great-nieces and nephews Haley, Faith, Khloe, Gloriana and Malachi as well as numerous cousins and a host of friends. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gregg St. Worship Center with burial to follow at the Good Hope Cemetery.
