JOHN ALAN WIGHTMAN, age 68, of Washington Court House, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at his home. His death was sudden and unexpected. John was born on September 18, 1955, in Fayette County to the late William John and Maxine F. Allen Wightman.
John was a 1975 graduate of Tri-Valley High School in Dresden, Ohio. He had worked for both Ferno, and the Yusa Corporation in Washington C.H. John was very sports minded and was an avid fan of both the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cincinnati Reds. In high school, he played football, baseball, basketball and ran track. John also received a trophy for the most points scored at his school. Later, John played softball and practiced the Korean Martial Art, Taekwondo. One of John's greatest Joys was tossing the ball back and forth with his son, Tim in the backyard. In more recent years, John enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and could often be found playing Fortnite with them.
Survivors include his son, Tim (Mackenzie) Wightman; his grandchildren, Ainsley, Marleigh, Andrew and Maddi Wightman; his siblings, Keith (Kim) Wightman and Susan Wightman Sexton; his nieces and nephews, Kayley Campbell and Katelyn, Chase and Travis Sexton. Also surviving are his great-nephew, Kamden, several cousins, a host of friends and his beloved dog, Scout who never left his side.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Lori Wightman and his nephew, LCpl Brett Wightman.
In keeping with John's wishes cremation has taken place. Friends may visit with his family on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
