JOSEPH M. HOTTINGER, age 89, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024. He was born at his grandma's house in Marshall, Ohio on February 25, 1935 to the late William M. and Clarice L. (Elliott) Hottinger.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Hottinger.
Survivors include his loving wife, Ruby, and children Keith (Michele), Brian (Laura), and Diana (Jim). He also leaves behind grandchildren, Stephanie Watkins, Beth Windhorst (Bill), Derek Hottinger (Rubie), Breanna Easter, Emily Hottinger, Matthew Hottinger (Leigha Tennant) and Alex Gauldin. As well as great grandchildren, Allie Hottinger, Joe Carpenter, Landon Hottinger, Evan Easter, Bryson Watkins, Aayden Hottinger, Branden Easter, Jeremiah Easter, Logan Hottinger, Leilah Hottinger and Henry Windhorst.
He was a 1953 graduate of Frankfort High School and joined the United States Army in 1957. After the Army, he married the love of his life, Ruby, and they shared 64 1/2 years together. In addition to being a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa, he dedicated several years to being a Boy Scout troop leader, providing guidance for scouts of Troop 323.
He worked several years at Rockwell International and RCA/Thomson Consumer Electronics as a Machinist until his retirement. He was also affiliated with multiple unions.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Joseph's name to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Mike Henry officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
