JOSEPH EUGENE "JOE" COCKERILL, age 79, of Greenfield, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe after a short and unexpected illness. He had been in failing health for some time.

A Veteran, Joe served as a firefighter in the United States Air Force after school. Joe retried from the Ohio Department of Transportation and had also spent many years as a farmer.

He was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed gameshows and old western movies. Joe always loved and a good joke and enjoyed making people laugh.

He is survived by his of wife of 49 years, Esther M. (Detty) Cockerill; children, Lawrence (Karen) Cockerill of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, Lori (Tim) Bagoly of Liberty Township, Thomas (Amber) Cockerill of Greenfield, and Brenda (Bill) Warner of Washington CH; 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, five sisters, and countless nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; Eugene Parrett and Francis Louise (Eads) Cockerill; daughters, Cheryl Toppins and Theresa Morgan; sisters, Karen Vance and Linda Glass; and niece, Nikki Bentley.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

To honor Joe's wishes, there will be no services. Cremation will take place and his ashes will be interred at White Oak Grove Cemetery in Buena Vista at a later date.
