JOSEPH LEWIS "JOE" GROVES, age 89, of Jeffersonville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.

He was born on June 2, 1936 in London, Ohio to the late Clifford and Inez (Huff) Groves. He attended Jeffersonville High School and took classes at Circleville Bible College. Joe had worked at NCR for many years and retired from the Colonial Stair & Woodwork Company in Jeffersonville. Joe was a past member at the Bookwalter Church of Christ in Christian Union. He enjoyed traveling, motorcycles, nature, and was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns fan.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his siblings, Harry Groves, Johnny Groves, David Groves, Becky Gill, Kay Rinehart, and infant sister, Mary Groves; niece, Vicki Shreffler; and nephews, Bobby Groves, Richard Gill, and Johnny Gill, Sr.

Survivors include his loving and devoted significant other of more than fifty years, Gale Ann Truitt; nephews, Dale (Bonnie) Rinehart, Tim Rinehart, and Danny Groves; and nieces, Wendi Manor, and Gretchen (JC) Gilmore. Also surviving are several other great-nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Jeffersonville. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
