JOSHUA GENE SANDERSON, age 36, of Washington Court House, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, July 10, 2023. He was born on March 28, 1987 in Norwich, New York to Alvin E. Sanderson, Jr. and Paula S. Lester Mosley, who survive.

Josh was a 2005 graduate of Laurel Oaks in Wilmington, where he studied Aviation. He liked music and wanted to be a rapper. Josh also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors, video games and spending time with his family and friends. His family knew Josh as being very loving and sociable.

In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, April Sanderson; his son, Braxton McDaniel; his brothers and sisters, William Sanderson, Corey Paige Brown, Emily (Travis) Johnson, Andrea (Matt) Whittington, Alvin Sanderson, III, Christina Gose, and Jessica Walsh. Josh is also survived by his stepfather, Myles Mosley; his grandfather, Ronald P. Lester; his nieces and nephews, Gabrielle Brown, Riot Mosley, Drevyn Thomas, Joziah Johnson, Sophia Johnson, Abigail Johnson and Izzy and Bailey Walsh along with several cousins and a host of friends.

Josh is preceded in death by his brother, Kizer Sanderson; his grandmothers, Phyllis Lester and Pam Souder, his grandfather, Alvin Sanderson, Sr and Aunt Ronda Lester.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Summers Funeral Home with Jon Creamer officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. Friends may visit with the family on Monday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
