"Joy" (Matson) Bennett

JOYCE R. "JOY" (MATSON) BENNETT, age 86, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2025, while surrounded by her family.
She was born on April 7, 1939 in New Holland, Ohio to the late Hershel and Dorris (Willis) Matson.
She married Victor "Eddie" Bennett on July 27, 1957. They were married for 56 years, prior to his passing in November of 2013.
Joy was a loving and devoted mother to her four children, Ray (Cindy) Bennett, Vicki Huffman, Kelly (Denny) Smith, and Michael (Pam) Bennett.
She was a doting grandma to her grandchildren, who collectively share many precious memories of their time with her, Brandy Bennett, Jenny (Andrew) Miller, Jason Bennett, Ashley Bennett, Parker Huffman, Caleb Huffman, Kelsey (Troy) Costler, Megan (Ryan) Combs, MaKenzie Smith, Drew Bennett, Drake (Jen) Bennett, Gina Valent, and Nicole Valent; and seven cherished great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings, John (Melinda) Matson, Betty Draise, and Sue Ann (Ron) Thomas. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Joy was preceded in death by her siblings, Carl Matson, Ella Jean Wood, Hope Michael, Patty Matson, Bob Matson, David Matson, and Jimmy Matson.
Throughout the years, she enjoyed reading, playing with her grandchildren, puzzles, card games (She always insisted she did NOT cheat at Canasta!) watching the Cincinnati Reds and her Soap Operas.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Duvall officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. In keeping with her wishes, cremation will follow services.
