KARLA SUE SMITH, age 78, of Washington CH, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at 8:58 p.m. at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 16, 1940 in Pickaway County to Harold and Velma Jones Gorman. She attended Washington Senior High School, Class of 1958. Karla retired in 2001 from Club Apartments where she had worked as the office manager for many years. She was a member at the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Washington CH. Karla was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting and being with her family.

Karla was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and love of her life, David Joseph Smith, whom she married on October 13, 1956; son, David Joe Smith; brothers, Donald Gorman, and Roger Gorman; and her beloved Shih Tzu, Tiko.

Survivors include her daughters, Tammy Smith-Reisinger, and Julie (Jim) McDonald; grandchildren, Tisha (Rick) Smith, Tadd (Angela Smith) Reisinger, Trey Reisinger, Maria (Isaac) Free, Kelli McDonald and her fiancé, Josh Anderson, Maggie McDonald, Sarah Smith, Joseph Smith, and Leah Smith; great-grandchildren, Alex, Carly, Spencer, Keegan, Mason, Kamrin, Brextin, and Kinley; daughter-in-law, Sally Smith; special friends, Cindy Dement, and Amber Dement; and her faithful canine companion, Izzy. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 733 St Rt 41 SW, Washington CH, OH 43160, with Rev. Elizabeth Hoster officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Wednesday evening from 5-8:00 p.m. In keeping with Karla's wishes, cremation will take place and interment will be held at the Washington Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
