Obituary

REV. KENNETH H. BOGARD, age 88, of Washington CH, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 4:54 a.m. at the OSU Wexner Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 6, 1928 in Fayette County to Melborne and Pauline Conrad Bogard. He was an ordained minister and had worked at the Carter Tool and Die Machine Shop for many years. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII. For 35 years, Rev. Bogard served as Pastor at the Wesleyan Holiness Church of Washington CH. Also, he served as the General Superintendent of the Wesleyan Churches of North America. He loved the ministry and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, a stillborn daughter, Melody Bogard, brother Jack Bogard, half-brother Houston Harmison and half-sister, Nancy White. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Harper Bogard, whom he married on January 6, 1949; his children, Belinda (Robert) Pratt, Deborah Lynn Carter, Dan (Jeri) Bogard and foster-daughter and her children, Evelyn "Jenny" Seay, Wesley (Sherry) Thorton and Brett Thorton; grandchildren, Jodi (Greg) Hoyle, Rob (Carrie) Pratt, John Pratt, Aaron (Christie) Pratt, Janessa (Chris) Williamson, Chasity Bogard, Danette (Gary) Garringer, Wes (Lyndsey) Bogard, Dwayne Carter and Bryan Carter; 20 great-grandchildren as well as his very close canine companion, Brandi. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wesleyan Holiness Church, 802 E. Paint St. with Rev. Chad Searles and Rev. Paul Bates officiating with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Summers Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and again at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
