December 11, 1929 – February 15, 2018
KENNETH RAY OESTERLE, Jr., age 88, of Washington CH, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Fayette County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on December 11, 1929 in Pickaway County to Kenneth and Grace (Metzger) Oesterle. He was a 1947 graduate of New Holland High School. Ken retired from Hartley Oil in 1992. He had attended the Heritage Memorial Church. Ken was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball, playing and watching sports, making special trips to the Amish Country, and being with his family.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joe Oesterle; siblings, Eileen Tatman, Marceline Wallace, Maynard Oesterle, Robert Oesterle, and Ted Oesterle; brothers-in-law, Ralph Irons, and Clyde Irons; and his loving canine companion, Muff.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Louise (Irons) Oesterle, whom he married on May 26, 1951; his children, Ron (Kathie) Oesterle, Brenda (Keith) Berner, Dan (Kim) Oesterle, and Cindy (Ike) Hodson; grandchildren, Dawn (Dave) Page, Krista (Logan) Buckley, Brad (Britt) Berner, Stephanie (Danny) Stewart, Stacie (John) Rolfe, Todd (Shannon) Oesterle, Shawn (Amanda) Oesterle, Chad (Jana) Hodson, and Holly (Jon) Burgess; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jean Skinner, Jerry Durflinger, Judy Gordon, Richard Oesterle, Leslie Oesterle, and David Oesterle; brother-in-law, Jim Irons; and sister-in-law, Martha Kellenberger. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. The family wishes to thank the 400 wing for the excellent care they gave, especially, our angels, Maryann Smith and Kristi Gray. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Pastor Bruce Morrison and Rev. Joe Duvall for their faithful visits.
The memorial service will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Chaplain Jeff Davis officiating with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service
