Obituary

KURT DOUGLAS COKONOUGHER, age 63, of Bloomingburg, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2027 at his home.

Kurt is survived by his wife of twenty years, Debbie Kaye (Haines) Cokonougher; his parents, Larry David and Roberta “Jo” (Rhoades) Cokonougher; stepsons, Jimmy (Jenni) Mercer, and Justin (Maria) Jones; grandchildren, Sutton, Jase, Lexi Mercer, and soon to make his arrival, Declan Jonen; sister Tracey Cokonougher; and special friend, Mike Zint. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.

Kurt was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Kurt was a 1981 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School and a 1984 graduate of Hocking Technical College. He was the co-owner and operator of EZ Oil Change for thirty-four years. He had been a volunteer member at the Paint Creek Joint Fire District in Greenfield and the Washington Fire Department in Washington CH. Kurt was an avid hunter of Bigfoot. Maybe now he has found out if Bigfoot really did exist? Kurt was so proud of his family, they were his pride and joy.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
