REV. LARRY ALBERT GROVES, age 72, of Washington CH, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 25, 2021 at 3:15 p.m. at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on May 3, 1948 in Richmond Dale, Ohio to Wesley and Gladys (Penwell) Groves. He was a 1967 graduate of Huntington High School and later obtained a degree in ministry from Ohio Christian University, formerly Circleville Bible College. Larry proudly served his county is the US Army. He retired from Ferno-Washington in 2013 after many years of service. Larry pastored at several different churches during his tenure including the Greenfield Church of Christ in Christian Union, Sunnyside Church of Christ in Christian Union, and lastly, the Bookwalter Church of Christ in Christian Union. He enjoyed preaching, riding his motorcycle, watching old western movies, and being with his family.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Rosie Stevens and Harold Groves.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Shelby Jean (Davis) Groves, whom he married on March 12, 1971; siblings, Helen (William) Wilcox, Mable (Melvin) Hart, and Eugene (Carol) Groves; and sister-in-law, Lillian Ashley. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear and special friends.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Samuel Slagle officiating with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Those in attendance are asked to wear a mask or other facial covering and adhere to social-distancing guidelines.
