Obituary

LEE ERIC “PAP” HOPKINS, age 71, of Washington CH, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at his home. His death was sudden and unexpected.

He was born on December 13, 1954 in Washington CH to the late Vernon Benton and Dorothy Ann (Turnipseed) Hopkins. He was a 1972 graduate of Washington High School. Lee proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Washington City Schools where he had worked in maintenance for many years. He was a longtime member of the South Side Church of Christ. He enjoyed golfing, feeding deer, riding his golf cart, and spending time with his family, friends, and grandchildren. His land was one of his favorite places, a sanctuary where he could unwind, reflect, and create cherished memories. His family will remember him by his strong work ethic, unwavering loyalty, remarkable ability to fix anything, his generous spirit, and witty personality.

Above all, he deeply loved his wife. Their relationship was a love story beyond words one that began with love at first sight and endured through every season of life. Their unwavering devotion to one another remained constant until his final days, a testament to a lifetime of love, partnership, and commitment.

In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his sisters, Sue and Les.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Brenda Susan “Nana” (Hyer) Hopkins, whom he married on June 11, 1983; his children, Travis Lee “Bub” (Sausha) Hopkins, and Tabby “Pookie” (Travis) Picklesimer; grandchildren, Aubrey “Bird” Hopkins, Harlan “Boo Boo” Hopkins, and Mylee “Frog” Pickelsimer; and his best friends, Bobby Lutz, Donnie Anders, Bruce Shiltz, and his son-in-law, who he considered as his own, Travis Picklesimer. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. with Danny Dodds officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
