LEILA E. SMITH, age 82, of Washington CH, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at her home. She was born on September 2, 1931 in Washington CH to Raymond and Hazel Reaster Dixon. She had worked at Sugarcreek Packing and had attended the New Holland Church of Christ in Christian Union. She enjoyed bingo, puzzling, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Leila was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold Smith, daughter Teresa Lynn Summers, two great-grandchildren, siblings Rosie Dixon, Herb (and his wife Leilo) Dixon and George (and his wife Betty) Dixon. Survivors include her children Melinda (John) Matson, Tonda Wilson and special friend Mike Barnhill, Veronica McCullah, Harold (Marilyn) Smith, Sheridan (Tammy) Smith, Lloyd (Vicky) Smith and Paul (Verda) Smith; 21 grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Greg Schall and nurse, Jennifer, and all the nursing staff at the Med-Surg Unit at Fayette County Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Hodge officiating with burial to follow at the Good Hope Cemetery.
