Obituary

LILLIEBELLE JOSEPHINE (LEACH) CARTWRIGHT, age 96, of Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, formerly of Clifton, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

Born in Fayette County on October 31, 1928 to the late Clifford and Mary (Hyer) Leach. She graduated from Bloomingburg High School in 1947. She met and married her beloved husband, Donald H. Cartwright, on November 19, 1949. They moved to Clifton, Ohio in 1954 and raised their three daughters.

She was a member of the Clifton Ladies Auxiliary, Clifton Senior Citizens, and the Clifton Historical Society.

In 2016, she moved to Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania where she attended the Cornerstone Baptist Church.

She loved doing crafts, listening to music, sewing, traveling, and collecting many souvenirs along the way. She loved playing with her grandchildren, whether it was lying in the leaves, playing army, or the infamous Kings Corners. She was always there for them. But her greatest talent, other than being a mom and grandma, was her skill of sewing. She made wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses, and many other dresses for special occasions for her own daughters. Halloween was her favorite holiday, which just so happened to be her birthday.

She loved to dress up! You never knew what costume she would surprise us with; everything from Cleopatra, a 1920s Flapper Girl, and even a French Maid.

In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her husband in 1974, and siblings, Albert, Virgil, Dorothy, Marcella, Mildred, and Phyllis.

Survivors include her daughters, Karen (Stephen) Allen, Joyce (Ronald) Sheldon, and Carol Roush; grandchildren, James (Jamie) Cartwright, Stephan (Tabitha) Allen, Sarah Allen, Jared (Jessica) Sheldon, Josiah Sheldon, Victoria (Will) DeWitt, Steven Roush, and Keith (Melanie) Roush; ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; and siblings, Geneva Keebler, and Forest Leach. Also surviving are many special nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Marquette Hospice House in Pennsylvania for the care they provided during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Crawford County, Pennsylvania, 766 Liberty St., Meadville, PA 16335.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with her son-in-law, Rev. Dr. Ronald W. Sheldon officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
