LINDA FAYE BATES, age 73, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on December 13, 1949 in New Martinsville, West Virginia to the late Earl Eugene and Alberta Elizabeth (Miller) Ice. Linda traveled the United States with her husband as a military wife and retired from the Yusa Corporation in Washington CH. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Ice.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, Elza Alonzo "Lonnie" Bates, Jr., whom she married on November 6, 1970; her children, Rodney Walker, Brian Bates, Jason Bates, Sarah Bookwalter, and Sherry Dotson; eleven grandchildren; siblings, Eugene Ice, Kenneth Ice, and Christine Dye; and her beloved Yorkies, Sammy and Billy. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bloomingburg Cemetery with Chaplain Dean Queen officiating.
