Obituary

LUCINE L. "LUKE" MONGOLD, age 90, of Washington CH, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at his home. He was born on June 28, 1925 in Fayette County to Fred and Carrie Cullers Mongold. He retired from Armco Steel in 1988 after 36 years of service. He proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II. He was a former member of the VFW. Luke enjoyed spending time with his family and keeping his yard and flowers in perfect condition. Luke was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 72 years who passed away on August 6, 2015, Mary Ellen Hall Mongold, one son, Orville Dwayne Mongold, his father and mother-in-law, Orville and Nancy Hall, a sister and brother-in-law, Elmer and Dorothy Woods, two brothers-in-law, Leslie and Bill Reed, one brother, Alonzo Mongold, and an infant sister, Wilma, and an infant granddaughter, Angela Nicole Beatty. Survivors include his children, Phyllis (Mel) Holloway of New Holland, James (Linda) Mongold, and Lila (Todd) Lawwell, all of Washington CH; his grandchildren, Jim, Tammy, Dawn, Brian, John, Michelle, Misty, Courtney, Heather, and Angela, as well as 30 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Ruby Reed of New Holland, Mae Reed of Springfield, Mary Boggs of Sabina, Betty McMorrow of Washington CH, and LeRoy Mongold of Sardenia, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Hodge officiating with burial to follow at the Milledgeville Plymouth Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Fayette County, 222 N. Oakland Ave., Washington CH, OH 4316.
