MARGARET EDWARDS MCCONKEY, age 90, of Washington CH, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. at the St. Catherine's Manor. She was born on December 14, 1923 in Fayette County to Pearl and Ada Stanforth Merritt. She was a member of the old Gregg St. church, now known as the Heritage Memorial Church. She was a Camp Fire leader for over 15 years, enjoyed crocheting, camping, cooking, election poll worker and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved her pets Dulley and Harley. Margaret was proceded in death by her parents, her husband Samuel Gale "Red" McConkey, one son at infancy Jackie, brothers Howard, Rell, Ralph, Thomas, Carl and Austin Merritt and sisters Mary Pitzer, Doris Denny, Janet Wheeler and Ruth Taylor. Survivors include her children Gale McConkey and special friend Shirley Baker, Dave (Joyce) McConkey, Marsha (Jack) Junk, Mary (Thomas) Randolph and Cathy McConkey; grandchildren Patrick (Jessica) McConkey, Tracy (Tom) Richards, Bradley (Cyndy) McConkey, Jeffrey McConkey, Thomas McConkey, Michael (Lisa) McConkey, Kristina (Bret) Fox, Kimberly (Michael) Gilmore, Amber (Jeremy) Blair, Shaun McConkey, Joshua DeLong and Sara Randolph; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brother Russell (Donna) Merritt as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Church,1867 US 35 NW, with Rev. Joe Duvall and Pastor Bruce Morrison officiating with burial to follow at the Bloomingburg Cemetery.
