MARILYN JEAN (PARRETT) ZIMMERMAN, age 87, of Washington CH, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at her home.
She was born on May 7, 1937 in Washington CH to the late Robert and Loa (Straley) Parrett. Marilyn grew up on a small farm in Fayette County. She was a 1955 graduate of Washington High School and attended Asbury College where she earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
Marilyn was the wife of a Methodist Minister, an elementary school teacher, a music teacher, a private piano instructor, a museum guide, and a church choir director who wrote her own Easter Cantata. She wore many hats in her spare time.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Rev. Paul K. Zimmerman, whom she married on August 8, 1959; her children, John Kenneth (Kitty) Zimmerman of Camilla, Georgia, Karen Kay Zimmerman of Washington CH, Kurtis Paul (Cynthia) of McAllen, Texas, and Christina Joy (Phillip) Webb of Washington CH; eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a host of dear and special friends.
A viewing will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 at the Summers Funeral Home from 4-6:00 p.m. In keeping with her wishes, cremation is to follow.
