Obituary

MARY ELLIN HORNEY, age 78, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Carriage Court of Washington CH.

She was born on December 21, 1945 in Franklin County, Ohio to the late Dr. Clarence B. and Mary K. (Ringwald) Hayes. She was a graduate of Washington High School. Mary Ellin retired from Dr. Dale E Reno's office where she had worked as his secretary for many years. She was a faithful member at Heritage Church under the teaching of Rev. Bruce A. Morrison. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and had a special love in her heart for horses and cats.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ellin was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale A. Horney, whom she married on December 14, 1985, and grandson, Zach Milstead.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Andrew (Misty) Milstead; stepchildren, Gale (Craig) Pukall, Bill (Toni) Horney, and Jolene (Chris) McCabe; grandchildren, Grace Milstead, Gretchen (Levi) Davis, Ryan Carter, Danny Carter, Tori Horney, and Kyle McCabe; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Madeline (Bill) Baird, and Peter Hayes. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Mauer officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
