MAUDE A. VANCE, age 84, of Wilmington, formerly of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at her home.

She was born in Fayette County to William "Willie" and Della Mae (Campbell) Penwell. She attended Washington High School. Maude was a homemaker and stay-at-home mother of five children. She enjoyed gardening, being with her family and grandchildren, and had a love for cats.

Maude was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry C. Vance, whom she married on December 15, 1956; son, William C. "Bill" Vance; and several siblings.

Survivors include her children, Patricia A. Henry, Robin L. Edwards, Marjie E. Jackson, and Danny J. Vance; grandchildren, Cynthia A. Henry, Gary R. (Polli) Henry, Jennifer L. Owens, Clinton M. (Danielle) Henry, Timothy (Shannon) Brakefield, Christopher (Melissa) Brakefield, Crystal (Raleigh) McCallister, Tracy (Katie) Vance, Angel Edwards, Stacey (Kyle) Arnold, Shane Garinger, Brenda (Billy) McCoy, Tiana C. Jackson, and Dustin Vance; and numerous great-grandchildren. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Good Hope Cemetery with Danny Dodds officiating.
