MELINDA GAY SPEELMAN, age 59, of Washington CH, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 10:52 p.m. at the Fayette County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. She was born on June 5, 1956 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Ronald and Dorothy Curtis Leaman. She had worked as an LPN for the State of Ohio Department of Corrections and later worked at the Fayette County Dog Shelter. She enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, attending buck skinning events, bird watching and all of her canine companions. Survivors include her husband, Steven Speelman, whom she married on April 20, 1985; her children Tim Leaman and fiancé Alma Dillon and adopted daughter Christina Hetrick; grandchildren Bladeth and Alandria; brother Doug (Rhonda) Leaman; step-mother Pat Leaman and in-laws, Linda and Fred Pine. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with burial of the cremains to take place at a later date at the Good Hope Cemetery.
