MELVIN BLAINE 'COALMINER' HUGHART, SR., age 76, of Greenfield, Ohio went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born on January 18, 1940 in Virginia to Ernest and Hilda Lee Hughart. He retired from Greenfield Research where he was employed for 13 years. Melvin was a wonderful husband, dad, brother, and grandpa. He enjoyed sharing his past hunting stories and "if I win the lottery" dreams. He also enjoyed bluegrass music, Tom & Jerry cartoons, and guns. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, daughters Brenda Lee Hughart Baisden and Anna Ruth Hughart and siblings, Doodie Hughart, and Virginia Mae Hughart. Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn Fay Chandler Hughart, whom he married on December 11, 1975; his children, Melvin Hughart Jr., Andrew Mark (Crystal) Hughart, Michael Wayne (Paula) Hughart, Jeffrey Keith (Melinda) Hughart, Gary (Crickett) Hughart, Emily Hughart, and Sharon Barrett as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and siblings Charlie, Chink, and Basil Hughart. The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Church on SR 28 in Greenfield with Rev. Scott Graham officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Summers Funeral Home.
