IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael S.
"Mike" Barker
July 17, 1962 – February 25, 2025
MICHAEL S. "MIKE" BARKER, age 62, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the Adena Fayette Medical Center after a two-year battle with cancer.
He was born on July 17, 1962 in Washington CH, the son of Robert and Charlotte (Hensley) Barker. He was a 1980 graduate of Miami Trace High School. After graduation, Mike worked for Frisch's in Washington CH as a night manager and at Pizza N' Motion in Wilmington before going to work for the CXS Railroad. Mike worked for twenty-three years as an engineer and retired in 2022.
Mike enjoyed driving around and taking photos of different trains. He also enjoyed shopping at outlet malls and would always buy something whether we needed it or not. He would come home and say, "Well, here's something else we don't need!" He enjoyed watching Ohio State football, the Cincinnati Reds, and the television show, MASH. He collected old coins and railroad memorabilia. He loved listening to classis rock music and watching old movies, he had an extensive music and movie collection. His wish was to retire and take care of his parents but sadly enough, that wish was cut short.
Mike was preceded in death by a stillborn brother, Charles Wendell Barker; uncle, James Hensley, Jr.; aunt, Sue Nix; paternal grandparents, James Barker, and Elizabeth Ann Yahn; step-grandfather, Harold Yahn; maternal grandparents, James, Sr., and Grace Hensley.
Survivors include his parents; son, Mark Hudson of Cloverdale, Kentucky; sisters, Deanna Carol Bruce of Wilmington, Ohio, and Rachel DiMattia and her partner, Jay Sawyer of Derby, Vermont; and aunt, Linda Hensley of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, his "other mother" Mary Estle, and his beloved German Sheperd, Koko.
A special thank you to the staff at Court House Manor, the Adena Fayette Medical Center, and Miami Valley Hospital for giving Mike such wonderful care.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held at the White Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Summers Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.summersfuneralhome.com
