IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mildred J.
Ruth
May 5, 1930 – February 14, 2024
MILDRED J. RUTH, age 93, of Washington CH, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 with her loving family by her side. She had been in failing health for the past five years and was a new resident of St. Catherine's Manor of Washington CH.
She was born on May 5, 1930 in Fayette County to the late Clifford and Mary (Hyer) Leach. She attended Bloomingburg High School through the eleventh grade and while working during the summer months at Hagerty's Shoe Factory, she met the love of her life, Donald E. Ruth. On July 24, 1947 they were joined in marriage in Greenup, Kentucky. Mildred was a stay-at-home mom to their three children. She later worked in the cafeteria at Washington High School for twenty-three years, retiring in 1991 as lead cook. Mildred was also the bookkeeper for the family business, Don's Machine Shop.
She enjoyed summer vacations with family and friends, fishing on Dog Lake in Ontario, Canada, working jigsaw puzzles, and listening to gospel and country music was also one of her favorite past times.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Don Ruth, who passed in 1997; daughter, Dianna Wilson who passed in 2014; and siblings, Clifford "Albert" Leach, Virgil Leach, Dorothy Tillis, and Marcella Jane Clay.
Survivors include her children, Debbie (Mike) Baughn, and David (Tammy) Ruth; grandchildren, Chad Spires, Kimberly Miller, Kristi Wilson, Tyler Ruth, and Ashley Ruth; great-grandchildren, Macy Miller, Emma Miller, Jaycee Ruth, Colton Spires, Connor Spires, and Rhett Wilson; and siblings, Jo Cartwright of Pennsylvania, Geneva Kuebler of Jeffersonville, Forest Leach of Washington CH, and Phyllis Leach of Grove City. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at ProMedica Hospice and St. Catherine's Manor during this difficult time.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
