Obituary

NANCY JANE UBER was born in Greenville, Pennsylvania on August 22, 1934. She and her only brother Jim were reared by their loving parents, Paul and Mary Hoobler.

Nancy started her college education at Houghton College in upstate NY. She was a good athlete playing competitively in both basketball and field hockey. She then transferred to the University of Pittsburgh where she graduated as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1959. She served as the campus nurse at Brainerd Indian School near Rapid City, SD, Northwest Indian Bible School in Alberton, MT and at Hobe Sound Bible College in Hobe Sound, FL. Her selfless commitment to her Savior, her family, her career and countless individuals across our nation and the world are still being felt today.

For nearly 67 years, Nancy was married to Norman J. Uber. Married on May 30th of 1959, they were blessed with three children, Tim (Toby), Gary and Mary. It was only recently that Nancy and Norm made the arduous journey from Brent, Alabama to live with their daughter, Mary, and her family in Bloomingburg, Ohio. On April 29, 2026 at the age of 91 years, Nancy slipped the surly bonds of earth and touched the face of God.

She is rejoicing today in heaven with her parents and great-grandson, Jayce. Surviving family members include her three children, Tim, Gary (Carmen); Mary (Tom) Butcher, and her beloved husband, Norm. Her loving grandchildren, Katie (Colton) Carr, Tom (Becca) Butcher, Justin and Lauren DeLuca, Morgan Uber, Toby, Nick, Kami and Jaxson Butcher, and her great-grandchildren, Millie and Penny Butcher, Oscar and Margi Carr and Adriana DeLuca who all knew and loved their grandma.

Nancy was a true follower of Christ and loved Jesus more than anything. She was not judgmental nor did she condemn those who thought differently on matters of the heart. When she walked into a room, it didn’t take long for people to realize that Jesus was the sweetest name she knew. Heaven claimed a soul and earth lost an Angel.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.at the House of Prayer, 1230 Washington Ave., Washington CH, OH 43160.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Summers Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.summersfuneralhome.com
