ORVILLE JUNIOR "Big O" PERKINS, age 83, of Washington CH, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 7:20 a.m. at Signature Health Care.
He was born on January 25, 1932 in Pike County to Lee Orville and Hazel Jordan Perkins. He had worked as a farmer but retired from Johnson Controls after 25 years of service. He had served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He enjoyed fishing, reading, watching golf, country music, westerns and enjoyed spending time with his family, children and grandchildren.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Violet Mae Freeze, Pollie Potts, Shirley Freeze, Josephine Blevins, Linda Williamson, William, Tommy and Paul Perkins.
Survivors include his wife, Amaryllis "Amy" Hill Perkins, whom he married on November 6, 1952; his children; Jeannette (Bob) McMurry, Harold Perkins, Mike (Pam) Perkins, Ronald Perkins, Loretta Johnson, Randy Perkins, Pam (Rick) Kimmey and Orville Lee (Arlene) Perkins; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; siblings Wayne (Chris) Perkins, Darlene Perkins and James Perkins as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Elder Bill Phillips officiating with burial to follow at the Westwood Cemetery in Latham. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 5-7 p.m.
