PATRICIA "PATTY" ANN WILLIAMS SHOEMAKER, age 82, of Washington CH, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 12:48 a.m. at Signature HealthCARE of Fayette County.
She was born on May 6, 1935 in Fayette County to John Franklin II (Hank) and Anna Mae Whitcomb Williams. Patty was a lover of life and family and was seen as an inspiration to others. She touched many lives. Patty was passionate about helping children and was known as a very giving person throughout her lifetime. Patty was active in the community serving as superintendent of the fine arts department at the Fayette County Fair for over 20 years, owning her own ceramics studio, participating in professional ceramics competition throughout central Ohio and winning several top honors. Patty also served as the activities director at Auburn Manor Nursing Home in Washington CH.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Layton Edward Shoemaker, whom she married on November 27, 1958, brother, David, brother-in-law, Willis James Van Dyke Sr. (Pam), and her sister in law, Carolyn (David).
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Tonya Shoemaker; grandchildren, Brian, Chris and Nicole (Tim); great-grandchildren, Christian, Leon, Bridgette, Timothy, Suzanne, Brittanna, Dreama and Jamie; and her siblings, Pam, and Johnny (Margie.) Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bible Baptist Temple, 4361 St Rt 41 NW, Washington CH, OH, 43160 with Pastor Lyn Jackson and Pastor Andrew Johnson officiating with burial to follow at the Sugar Creek Methodist Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church on Monday evening from 4-8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bible Baptist Temple, in care of the Layton and Patricia Shoemaker Jesus Loves the Children's Fund.
