PATTY LOU RILEY, age 82, of Washington Court House, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, at her home. Born on April 2, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John Riley and Opal Shackelford.
Patty attended school at Miami Trace and had worked as a Nursing Assistant at Carlton Manor for many years. Patty was a dedicated, faithful and devoted member of the Washington House of Prayer, she loved to work puzzles, made the best strawberry pies and most of all, enjoyed caring for others. Patty will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her brother, Michael Shackelford; her nieces and nephews, Robert Jeffrey, Tara Thompson, Bethany Hill, Cathy Reed, Tina Galyn, Talicia Funk, Keli Shackelford and Brian Riley. Also surviving are eighteen great-nieces and nephews, special friend and caregiver, Brenda Angel; special friend Donna Thomas along with her church family and many more special friends and neighbors.
In addition to her parents, Patty is preceded in death by seven brother and sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, in the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Butcher of the Washington House of Prayer officiating, burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
