PAUL E. "BUCKSHOT" WHALEY, age 69, of Washington CH, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 10:20 a.m. at his home.
He was born on May 8, 1944 in Fayette County to Raymond and Mae Jackson Whaley. He retired from the Fayette County Highway Department after 36 years of service. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Frankfort. He enjoyed fishing, watching old westerns, going camping and loved spending time with his family.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brother Raymond Whaley Jr., sisters Shirley Bellar and Ruth Groves and brother-in-law Ray Corey.
Survivors include his wife Faye Corey Whaley, whom he married on June 5, 1988; his children Paul (Crystal) Whaley, Paula Funk, Jamie Whaley, Michael Whaley, Penny (Bill) Sanders, Geraldine (Danny) Evans, Julie Gray and friend Robbie Penwell and Jo (Dwight) Murphy; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; brother James (Hazel) Whaley, sisters Nancy (Danny) Bryant and Vicki Whaley; in-laws Darlene Corey, Eddie (Lora) Corey, Kay (Homer) Austin, Linda (Duke) Robinette, Brenda Corey, Robert (Shawn) Corey, Paul Corey, Larry Corey, Lennie (Joel) Roberts, Wyatt (Angie) Corey and Craig (Tonya) Corey; special friends Jim "Toot Toot" Curnutte and David Arledge as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of family and friends.
The family would like to extend a hearty thank you to the Heartland Hospice Team of Lucasville.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Chaplin Brad Harris officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-6 p.m.
