Obituary

PEARL FRANCIS BREAKFIELD, age 85, of Leesburg, formerly of Good Hope, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 2:27 p.m. at the Fayette County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. He was born on December 26, 1928 in Fayette County to David and Experience McKinney Breakfield. He had worked at Cudahy's, Sagar's Dairy and retired from Sugar Creek Packing. He had attended the Greenfield McClain High School and was a member of the Tower of Strength Church of New Vienna where he was serving as a Board Member. He was a founding member of the Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department and had served as Chief for several years. He was known as "poppa" to his family and church family. He enjoyed gardening, painting houses, woodworking, making fudge, watching the news and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Pearl was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Barbara Knedler Breakfield, three grandchildren, three brothers, one sister and one step-great-grandchild. Survivors include his wife Bessie Erwin Breakfield, whom he married on May 12, 1990; his children Peggy Daugherty of South Salem, Pat Yahn of Columbus, Danny (Wendy) Breakfield of Greenfield and Polly (Kevin) Waldrow of Columbus; step-children Joyce Adkins of Kentucky, Mark Baker of Leesburg and Doug Baker of Kentucky; nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; aunts Erma Tussey, Arlene Justice and Gladys Boynton; four sisters-in-law as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Deborah Camp-Ross officiating with burial to follow at the Good Hope Cemetery.
