Obituary

PHILLIP “JACK” WILSON, SR., age 77, born July 12, 1948, in Fayette County, Ohio, was the cherished son of Oscar Junior Wilson and Betty Jean Rogers. Jack’s early life in Ohio laid the foundation for a lifetime of love, family, and service.

Jack married the love of his life, Carole Jean Smith, on October 10, 1969. Together, they built a home filled with character, love and laughter in Staunton, Ohio. Jack and Carole raised four children, instilling in them the values of hard work, resilience, and the importance of family. Their life together was of simple joys— camping, fishing, casino outings, scenic drives, tinkering in his garage and meals shared as best friends and soulmates.

Jack served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1970. He remained a proud veteran throughout his life, always carrying with him the spirit of patriotism and camaraderie that defined his years of military service.

When not napping with his faithful furry friend, Ruby, he found happiness in the outdoors, casting his line from the bank, feeding his beloved deer, enjoying the thrill of the casino, or enjoying a nice campfire. He treasured every moment spent with Carole, whether on a leisurely drive or sharing a meal. His life was a testament to finding joy in the everyday and cherishing those closest to his heart.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Junior and Betty; his son, Phillip Jr.; siblings, David, Karen, and his twin sister, Jill; and father-in-law, Bob Smith.

He is survived by his devoted wife Carole; children, Shawn (Mindy) Wilson, Jennifer (Chuck) Free, and Brandon (Adrian) Smith; daughter-in-law, Sylvia Wilson; mother-in-law, Barbara Everhart; and sister, Connie Patton; along with nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives he touched with his love, orneriness and wisdom.

In accordance with Jack’s wishes, cremation will take place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Family and friends will gather to honor his memory and share the stories and moments that made Jack’s life so special.

Jack Wilson’s legacy is one of love, service, and joy. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Summers Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.summersfuneralhome.com
