PHYLLIS ANN NEWLAN, age 82, of Washington CH, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 10:37 p.m. at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

She was born on September 10, 1939 in Ross County, Ohio to Leslie and Beatrice (Newland) Freshour. She was a 1957 graduate of Greenfield McClain High School. Phyllis graduated from Chillicothe Cosmetology College. She retired from SmartStyle located in the Washington CH Walmart. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with her family.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; children, Charles W. "Skipper" Newlan, and Glenna Marie Saunders; grandchildren, Ryan Cox, and Jennifer Lynn Jett; siblings, Helen Conley, Jean Yates, Dean, Gary, Howard, Virgil, and Richard "Dick" Freshour; and son-in-law, Randy Cox.

Survivors include her companion of 48 years, Tom Slager; children, Jeanne Jett, and Patti Cox; grandchildren, Thei (Amanda) Casteel, Lyndsey J. (Chad) Vaughn, and Leslie (Larry) Bruce; great-grandchildren, Bia, Emmie, Hayden, Gaven, Ethen, Grace, Noah, Mati, Caitlin, Kelsey, Kyler, Maddox, Jarek, and Ariane; great-great-grandchildren, River, and Opal; siblings, Reynold Freshour, James "Jim" (Jean) Freshour, and Sue Borreson; and sister-in-law, Connie Freshour. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of special friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds and Paul Kutsch officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held at the Highlawn Cemetery at a later date.
