RALPH LEO STRAHLER, AGE 91, of Bloomingburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, November 21, 2015. He was born November 22, 1923 in Waterford, Ohio to Leo and Alice Keller Strahler.
Ralph spent his early years in the Washington County area. On February 22, 1944 he married Eloise (Beardsley) Strahler. In 1953 he moved to Fayette County with his wife and children. Ralph worked for Marietta Concrete Company for 32 years where he sold and built Marietta Silos in 38 states. Ralph was a local grain farmer and raised beef cattle for 36 years before retiring. After retiring from farming, he made outdoor furniture. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, he enjoyed playing cards, deer hunting and making deer salami for his family and friends. Ralph enjoyed swinging in the yard with his wife and visiting with his neighbors. Ralph never met a stranger and always had a good story to tell.
Ralph was preceded in death by a daughter Debra, his parents Leo and Alice Strahler and 9 siblings, Francis Strahler, Howard Strahler of Marietta, Ruth (Strahler) Neader of Arizona, Arthur Strahler of California, Louis Strahler, Bernard Strahler, Cecil Strahler of Marietta, Harold Strahler of California, and Leona (Strahler) Henniger of Lowell.
Ralph is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Eloise (Beardsley) Strahler, 6 children; Ralph C. (Saundra deceased) Strahler of Washington CH, Delbert (Deborah) Strahler of Tennessee, Rose (Tom) Bennington of Bloomingburg, Tom (Linda) Strahler of Washington CH, Steve (Peggy) Strahler of Greenfield, and Lorie (Allen) Johnson of Washington CH. Siblings Mary (Herb deceased) Grasley of Pickerington and Bertha (Richard) Pottmeyer of Marietta, 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grand children and 20 great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will greet friends and family at the Summers Funeral Home in Washington CH, on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. The rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. with Father Mike Paraniuk officiating.
Mr. Strahler's wishes are to be cremated. There will be a private family graveside service at a later date in the Bloomingburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local Cancer Society or Heart Association.
