RAYMOND LEON "RAY" HECKERT, JR., age 64, of Washington CH, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 3:28 a.m. at his home.
He was born on February 25, 1957 in Fayette County to Raymond Leon Sr. and Thelma Elizabeth (Lyons) Heckert Longberry. Ray lived a very full and happy life. He was involved in several groups and activities in Fayette County including the American Legion Post 25, VFW Post 3762, Fayette County Progressive Industries, Special Olympics, and the Fayette County Night Owls. He took pride in being a part-time greeter at Summers Funeral Home. Ray loved animals, riding motorcycles, living life to its fullest, singing, dancing, wrestling, and was also one of Elvis Presley's biggest fans. We will miss him dearly, but our lives are better because of him.
Ray was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Thelma (Roger) Longberry; grandparents, Thomas (Florence) Lyons, Dana Leon Heckert, Alfred (Dorothy) Browne, and Johnny (Ruby) Longberry; and aunt, Sharon (Joe) Butcher.
Survivors include his father, Ray Heckert Sr.; sisters, Karen (Don Russell) Hart, and Beverly (Steven Sr.) Dailey; nieces and nephews, Buckie (Mandy) Caulley, Michelle (Ricky) Taylor, Brittany (Josh) Beverly, Melissa Lee, Daniel Lee (Gina) Merritt, and Steven "Aaron" (Alicia) Dailey, Jr.; great-nieces and nephews, Ryan, Brodie, Brylie, Alex, Harper, Carson, Xavier, Wyatt, Ian, Cassen, Katie, Noah, Ava, and Ella; aunts, Dorothy Jordan, and Helen Lyons; special sister, Elizabeth (Steven) Gullett; special niece, Lindsay Nicole Panio; and special friend, Sherry Dailey.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
