RAYMOND DALE SMITH, age 90, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Wood Glen Alzheimer's Community in Dayton, Ohio.
He was born on September 6, 1934 in Fayette County to the late Otties Ray and Anna Mae (Spurgeon) Smith. Raymond was a lifelong resident of Fayette and Clinton County. He served in the National Guard from 1952-1961 and retired with an honorable discharge as Staff Sergeant. Raymond was a farmer while also working as a mechanic at Fenton Oliver and Faris Oliver. He owned and operated Smith's Garage as well as a Moline implementation dealership. He was a truck driver for Marting's Manufacturing, VW Oil, and Hartley Oil. Raymond was a member of the Antique Power Club for thirty-plus years and served as a chairperson for Camping and Sawmill for the Clinton County Corn Festival for numerous years.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kelly Jo Annon, and brothers, Leroy Smith, and Martin Smith.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 71 years, Edna Mae (Winters) Smith; children, Roger (Janet) Smith of Leesburg, Ohio, Debbie (Delbert) Strahler of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, and Donna (Dwayne) Rittenhouse of Knoxville, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren, thirty-one greatgrandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren; sister, Katherine (Tom) Pauley of Naples, Florida; sisters-in-law, Gerry Smith of Washington CH, and Dorothy Smith of Sabina. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held on November 9, 2024 from 1-4:00 p.m. at Heritage Church Kline Center, 1867 Old US 35 NW, Washington CH, OH 43160
