RICHARD ALAN SHIPLEY, age 70, of Washington CH, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at the OSU Wexner Medical Center after a courageous battle with illness with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 24, 1943 in Greenfield, Ohio to Montford and Frances Andersen Shipley. He had worked at Overseas National Airways and Advance Auto prior to his retirement. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Cuban Crisis. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and dearly loved his children and grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Monte and Robert Shipley and sister Sue Shipley Burton. Survivors include his wife Connie Courter Shipley, whom he married on August 12, 1967; his children Robert (Gabriella) Shipley of Washington CH and Cathy (Nick) Fauber of Hillsboro; grandchildren Dominick and Anthony Shipley and Macy Fauber; siblings Ron (Karan) Shipley of Circleville, Jim (Lynda) Shipley of Maryland; mother-in-law Dorothy Courter of Washington CH, brother-in-law Randy Courter of Westerville as well as nieces Patty Shelton, Sheryll Schottelkotte, Rosey Bates, Jacki Kasmer and Lauren Bodie as well as a host of friends. The graveside service will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at the Good Hope Cemetery with Pastor John Burr officiating.
