RICHARD L. WILLIAMSON, age 81, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2022 at his home.
He was born on September 2, 1941 in Fayette County to the late Richard P. and Mary E. (Ogelsbee) Williamson. Richard was a 1959 graduate of Mt. Sterling High School and lived most of his life in the Mt. Sterling area. He was an independent truck driver for many years and had also worked in business management for a large warehouse corporation. He and his wife attended the Fayette County Church of Christ. Richard was a loving and devoted husband, father, papaw, and brother. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching NASCAR, and was an avid gun collector.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his in-laws, Virgil and Mary Delay; brother-in-law, Larry Delay; sister-in-law, Lola Butz; and his special uncle, Tom Riley.
Survivors include his wife, Linda L. (Delay) Williamson, whom he married on September 2, 1958; his daughters, Lisa Williamson, Beth Ballenger, Jennifer (Bill) Hart, and Anna (Joe) Henry; grandchildren, Siobann (Chris) Stoughton, Drew Ballenger, Kirsten (Steven) Wise, Clayton Hart, Trent Hart, Haylee Henry, and Lyla Henry; great-grandchildren, Allie, Sam, Natalie, Jon, and Arya; sister, Sue (Mike) Emmons; and his beloved canine companions, Colby and Dillinger. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Ohio's Hospice of Fayette County for the fantastic care they provided. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Ohio's Hospice of Fayette County, 222 N. Oakland Ave., Washington CH, OH 43160.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at the Summers Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Danny Dodds officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
