Obituary

RICKY L. SWORD, age 61, of Washington CH, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at his home. He was born on March 7, 1954 in Fayette County to Hubert and Sarah Wilson Sword. He had worked at Cortec. Rick proudly served his country in the US Marines and as a Vietnam veteran. He had attended Washington High School. Rick was a member of the American Legion Post #25, the VFW #3762, where he had served as Commander for 10 years, and was also a life time member of the Fayette County Chapter 89 Disabled American Veterans. He loved fishing and playing his guitar. Rick was a big Bengals and Buckeyes fan. Ricky was preceded in death by his parent's, his son's mother, Dianne Grubb and brother-in-law, Robert Everhart. Survivors include his son, Corey, and his wife, Sari Sword; his grandchildren Kali (Gideon) Meyer and Brooklyn Pratt; siblings Joyce Everhart, Arbie (Charles) Yahn, Ronnie (Sue) Sword, Steve (Joni) Sword, his twin sister, Vicky (Danny) Leeth as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Ricky is also survived by his loving canine companion, Jack. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at the Grace Community Church, 525 Glenn Ave., with Pastor Jay Lucas officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Summers Funeral Home.
