Obituary

ROBERT WILLIAM "BILL" DRESBAUGH, age 83, of Washington CH, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 1:22 a.m. at the Dayton Hospice House.

Bill was born on April 1, 1938 in Fayette County to Clarence and Nellie (Gordon) Dresbaugh. Bill was a long-time faithful member at the South Side Church of Christ.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Bonnie Louise (Clark) Dresbaugh; and son, Robert William Dresbaugh, Jr. Also surviving are cousins, Dennis Gordon, and Nita Paulette Garnier.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved daughter, Rachel Dawne Dresbaugh; and in-laws, Virgil L. and Hattie A. Clark.

Bill proudly served his country in the US Navy and was also a 15-year Veteran of the Ohio National Guard Reserves. During Bill's active duty in the Navy, he was aboard the Newport during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was aboard the USS Enterprise, the first nuclear powered aircraft carrier during the Vietnam Era.

He is a 30-year retiree of the US Postal Service in Columbus. Bill retired for good from Stage Distribution at the age of eighty.

He enjoyed his family, friends, loving pets, fishing, and doing work in his yard. Bill was actively involved in volunteering. He was an EMT with the Fayette County Life Squad and the Washington Fire Department.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Southside Church of Christ with Danny Dodds and Todd Maurer officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the church on Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the South Side Church of Christ, 921 S. Fayette St., Washington CH, OH or to Dayton Hospice House, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.

Facial coverings are suggested but not required per family request.
