"Bob" Estle
November 23, 1924 – July 29, 2021
ROBERT STANTON "BOB" ESTLE, age 96, of Washington Court House, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Mount Carmel Grove City. Bob had been in failing health for the last couple of years.
He was born on November 23, 1924 in Fayette County to Lester Pensyl and Helen Viola (Boyse) Estle. Bob attended Washington High School. Bob enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and proudly served in the Pacific during World War II as part of the 1st Marine Division. Following Bob's military service, he worked for the Gerber Company in Fremont, Michigan. Bob returned to Ohio where he worked for Frigidaire in Dayton, Ohio and later for Rhoads Heating & Cooling in Washington Court House. Bob was also the owner & operator of Tri-County Bait in Washington Court House where he serviced 19 counties in Ohio. Bob later entered the construction trade and was instrumental in the development of the self-help housing project during his years of service with Fayette County Community Action until his retirement. Bob was well known for being a "helpful hand" to many in his community and especially for his faith and love for the Lord and his family. Bob served as a trustee at the Gregg Street Church of Christ in Christian Union and also served on the Rev. Charles Williams radio ministry board. Bob was also a member of the Heritage Memorial Church in Washington Court House. Following retirement, Bob enjoyed spending time with his "coffee club" at McDonalds and with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob received many honors during his life, having been selected to participate in the Honor Flight in 2013 and also serving as Grand Marshal in the Fayette County Christmas Parade in 2019.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Juanita Robertson and Marjorie Felger; step-mother, Dolly Estle; and by his loving wife, Donna Louise (Merritt) Estle, whom he married on September 28, 1945.
Survivors include his precious daughter, Teresa Lynn "Teri" Knisley of Washington Court House; grandchildren, Jacqueline Blanchard of Worthington, Ohio and Tara (Andy) Bivens of Washington Court House. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren; Haleigh Blanchard, Robert Blanchard, Abby Blanchard, Conner Bivens, Nick Blanchard, and Lauren Bivens; a special niece, Leslie (John) Havens; and a host of special family and friends.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Church with Pastor Joy Stanforth and Pastor Randy Lee officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the church on Tuesday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bob to the Heritage Memorial Church or the Honor Flight.
