RONALD C. LONG, JR., age 97, of Washington Court House, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in the Chillicothe VA Medical Center. Born on November 25, 1927, in Good Hope, he was the son of the late Dorothy A. and Ronald C. Long, Sr. In 1953, he married the former Betty L. Jones, who preceded him in death in 1992.

Ronald attended school in Good Hope until his enlistment in the United States Army in June of 1946, where served overseas in World War II as a Guard Patrolman. Before his illness, Ronald was actively involved and attended the Fayette County Commission on Aging Senior Citizens Center and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 25. He also enjoyed going hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his sons, Donald C. Long and Ronald L. Long, both of Washington C.H.; his eight grandchildren; his seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and loving wife, Ronald was preceded in death by his son, Randy W. Long in 2007; his sister, JoAnn Leach and his granddaughter, Destiny D. Brill in 2020.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, in the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the Fayette County Honor Guard. Friends may visit the family on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
